In late June of 2000, the
Lord gave me a dream. This dream has greatly affected my life and our
ministry.
As the dream began, I was
standing to the left side of a nurse's station in a hospital. Directly
in front of me was a wing of patient's rooms as well as to my right past
the nurse's station. Throughout the dream, though I never saw the
nurse's face, her words brought comfort to me when she spoke.
I heard a man's voice to my
right. It was then that I saw a man with curly hair and a beard wearing
glasses. He was wearing street clothes and a jacket. His countenance and
demeanor were jovial and upbeat as he was interacting with patients who
were in rooms. It was obvious as he gradually made his way towards the
nurse's station, that he was being discharged. He was very expressive
and joyful.
I spoke with him briefly as
did the nurse as he signed papers for her. As he left the nurse's
station, the hospital wing directly in front of me became a highway. He
kept walking toward a friend who was waiting in a car on the side of the
highway. The driver stood behind the door and waved with a smile as his
new passenger was waving with a smile as he got into the passenger side.
As I was waving to them, I
saw a large red moving van rapidly headed towards them with no sign of
slowing. I began to yell to forewarn them as it came closer. Suddenly,
the car went to my left and the moving van went to the right off the
highway and across the median. As the truck bounced without sign of
slowing, the driver and passenger came into view. They were sound
asleep.
I looked farther to my
right over the nurse's station towards the patient's rooms. It had
become the highway lanes coming from the opposite direction. Three
vehicles were coming from that direction - a tractor-trailer, a dually
pickup truck pulling a large show horse trailer and a small car.
I began to try to forewarn
as I could see that they were on a collision course. The tractor-trailer
driver hit his brakes as the pickup truck attempted to pass him from
behind. As he did, he hit the automobile in the side with the trailer.
Suddenly, the red moving van collided head-on with all three of them.
There was very graphic destruction and death.
As I stood in shock of what
had just happened, the nurse's station disappeared. I realized I was now
watching the aftermath through the front window of our church.
Gradually, people began to
come in the front door single file and walk past me. As they walked past
me with heads down, I could see they had no facial color. I said, "Lord,
who are these people?" He answered, "These are those who have been
devastated by ministry mishap. I'm sending them to you to heal them."
